有人认为思乡是一种积极的情感。你在多大程度上同意或反对?

Band 7 model answer

It is often argued that whether homesickness can be considered a positive feeling. Although homesickness can be painful and distracting, I believe that it has positive value when it deepens identity without preventing adaptation.

A major reason is that missing home can remind people who supported them and what values shaped them. In practical terms, an international student may become more grateful for family meals, language, and festivals. This can lead to stronger emotional roots and cultural confidence. In addition, this feeling can motivate people to succeed for their families.

Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. if homesickness becomes constant, it can isolate people in a new environment. Another concern is that some may compare everything negatively with home and refuse to adjust. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.

For these reasons, I would argue that the emotion itself is not harmful; the response to it matters. People should combine contact with home and active participation in the new place.
