It is often argued that the environmental damage caused by plastic bags, bottles, and packaging. Although plastic packaging is convenient and inexpensive for shops and consumers, I believe that its environmental cost is too high to leave unmanaged.
A major reason is that single-use plastics break into small particles that spread through rivers and food chains. In practical terms, marine animals may swallow plastic fragments or become trapped in discarded bags. This can lead to long-term harm to ecosystems and public health. In addition, deposit schemes and refill systems can make reuse normal.
Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. recycling alone is not enough because many plastics are dirty, mixed, or uneconomical to process. Another concern is that poor countries may lack the infrastructure to collect waste properly. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.
For these reasons, I would argue that strict limits and better alternatives are both necessary. Governments should tax unnecessary packaging and support affordable reusable designs.
