It is often argued that censoring harmful online content. Although there are understandable reasons why some people support it, I believe that it is useful only if the downsides are limited.
A major reason is that censorship can protect users from abuse and misinformation. In practical terms, children and vulnerable adults may be safer if extreme material is removed. This can lead to better outcomes for individuals and society. In addition, it can also create broader social benefits.
Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. heavy censorship can be abused for political control. Another concern is that it can also place new pressure on people and institutions. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.
For these reasons, I would argue that the best answer is a balanced one. rules should be narrow, transparent, and independently reviewed.
