Band 7 model answer

It is often argued that car-free city centres. Although there are understandable reasons why some people support it, I believe that it is useful only if the downsides are limited.

A major reason is that car-free zones can reduce pollution and create calmer public spaces. In practical terms, pedestrians and cyclists may enjoy safer streets and better air. This can lead to better outcomes for individuals and society. In addition, it can also create broader social benefits.

Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. drivers and businesses may face inconvenience if access is limited too much. Another concern is that it can also place new pressure on people and institutions. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.

For these reasons, I would argue that the best answer is a balanced one. cities should combine restrictions with strong transport alternatives.
