It is often argued that teaching children media literacy. Although there are understandable reasons why some people support it, I believe that it is useful only if the downsides are limited.
A major reason is that media literacy helps students evaluate online claims. In practical terms, they can learn to check sources before sharing news. This can lead to better outcomes for individuals and society. In addition, it can also create broader social benefits.
Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. parents may not have the skills or time to teach it well. Another concern is that it can also place new pressure on people and institutions. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.
For these reasons, I would argue that the best answer is a balanced one. schools and families should share responsibility for critical thinking.
