It is often argued that public spending on sport. Although there are understandable reasons why some people support it, I believe that it is useful only if the downsides are limited.
A major reason is that sport can improve health, teamwork, and community spirit. In practical terms, local facilities may keep children active and give adults a social outlet. This can lead to better outcomes for individuals and society. In addition, it can also create broader social benefits.
Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. elite sport projects can be expensive and benefit only a small group. Another concern is that it can also place new pressure on people and institutions. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.
For these reasons, I would argue that the best answer is a balanced one. public money should focus on broad access rather than spectacle.
