Writing Task 2 prompt

In many countries, families are becoming smaller. Is this a positive or negative development?

许多国家的家庭规模正在变小。这是积极还是消极的发展?

Band 6 model answer

People have different opinions about smaller families. Some people believe that smaller families can give children more attention and resources, while others think that a very low birth rate may create long-term demographic pressure. In my view, it can be helpful, but only when the drawbacks are controlled.

One main reason is that smaller families can give children more attention and resources. This is important because parents may spend more time and money on each child. Another point is that it can also create broader social benefits. These advantages can make the situation better for many people.

However, there are some problems with this view. a very low birth rate may create long-term demographic pressure. If this problem is not managed well, the negative effects could spread further over time.

Overall, I believe the issue should be managed carefully. society should support family choice while planning for aging.
