Writing Task 2 prompt

In many countries, the population is aging. What problems does this cause, and what are some possible solutions?

许多国家正在老龄化。这会带来哪些问题?有哪些解决办法?

Band 8 model answer

The question of whether aging populations is widely debated in modern society. While its appeal is easy to understand in modern life, I am convinced that the real question is how to manage it wisely.

The most compelling reason is that older people can remain active and contribute experience. This matters because they may work longer, mentor younger workers, or support communities. Moreover, it can also create broader social benefits. These effects can continue to influence individuals and communities beyond the immediate situation.

Admittedly, pension and healthcare systems may face heavy pressure. Yet this weakness can be reduced if governments should plan for pensions, healthcare, and flexible work. Furthermore, a balanced approach would allow people to keep the benefits without letting the harms dominate.

On balance, it is valuable, but only when responsibly managed. Provided that those rules are consistently enforced, this approach offers a stronger and more sustainable answer to the issue.
