Band 7 model answer

It is often argued that whether parents or schools should teach children to become good members of society. Although schools expose children to rules, diversity, and cooperation outside the family, I believe that moral education should begin at home and be developed at school.

A major reason is that parents shape habits before teachers have much influence. In practical terms, respect, honesty, and responsibility are first learned through daily family routines. This can lead to a stable moral base. In addition, school helps children apply these values among peers and strangers.

Nevertheless, the disadvantages should not be ignored. not all families provide positive examples or enough attention. Another concern is that schools may focus too narrowly on exams if social education is ignored. These problems may reduce the value of the policy or behaviour if no safeguards are provided.

For these reasons, I would argue that neither side can replace the other. Parents and teachers should communicate about behaviour as well as academic results.
